Abigail and Zack became friends during their junior year of college. Over the next year, they spent a lot of time together, laughing and building a friendship. It wasn’t until their senior year of college that they began to pursue one another as more than friends. They both spent a lot of time in the Immaculate Conception Chapel on campus and began to seriously contemplate their paths and the kinds of people they should grow into for one another. They say that they both had separate but very clear experiences in which they felt God was talking directly to them about their vocations and their futures, and they both felt that God was affirming to them that they had each met their future spouse. From that point on, they began to prepare for marriage.
After Zack proposed to Abigail, the two spent hours in adoration, weekly confession, and prayer. They always made an effort to read and then discuss the daily readings with one another to help them end their day on the same page and to renew their faith daily. Their Catholic faith is extremely important to both of them, and served as a magnificent base for their impending marriage.
The couple knew immediately that they wanted a traditional Catholic mass. They also wanted to include Marian hymns to pay tribute to Mary’s Mountain on Mount Saint Mary’s University Campus. They wanted more than anything to bring everyone together to celebrate the beautiful sacrament of marriage.
Their ceremony at Mount St. Mary’s celebrated their Catholic faith with all those close to them. The florals by Fiddlestix Florals were a mix of lovely shades of neutrals, white and ivory and blush, with lots of greenery. The bridesmaids wore dresses in a beautiful shade of vintage blue, and the guys all looked super handsome in gray suits with vests and ties in a matching blue shade (and some fun and funky socks!). The backdrop of the mountains behind them with all of the colors of fall was picture perfect! I was so thrilled with all of the gorgeous portraits we got of the two of them!
After the ceremony, they moved over to Springfield Manor to begin the party at the reception. The place settings and decor matched the vintage blue of the ceremony, with lots of adornments of greenery. After cake cutting and speeches, the dance floor opened and everyone showed off their best moves! It was such a fun party with an amazing group of people!
After the wedding, Abigail and Zack headed off to Rome for their honeymoon. On a cold and rainy morning in November, they waited in line at the Vatican to try to catch a glimpse of Pope Francis. A few hours later, they were actually able to meet Pope Francis and hold his hands in theirs as they asked him to pray for their marriage. Abigail says that it was an unforgettable moment for the two of them, and made them feel that God is so very good to them.
I’m so elated and honored that I was able to capture their wedding day for them! I hope you enjoy my favorite images from their day!
